Something we have been doing here in the Learning Cmmons is shelving books. Me and the other 3 Techsperts each take a section, I usually take mystery and we shelve all the books that have been checked in. It isn’t very time consuming, and it’s kind of fun too. This is helpful because the books really pile up after all the classes come in. With all those books this job can become time consuming, so with us 4 doing it, it takes away another thing to do. This is also helpful to the students, and keeps their variety wide because we need to get the books back on the shelves as soon as possible for kids to check out. Another thing we have been working on in Techsperts is gluing the old, broken books back together. Some of the more popular books here that have been very used. There are books with covers ripped off, and the paper is disconnected from the book spine. So we glued and taped them back together with book glue. This is helpful because it gets more books back on the shelf for students to check out. It also helps us save money because we don’t have to buy new books. We have also weeded out a ton of outdated books in the fantasy and realistic fiction section. We got to pick out the books that looked ancient off of the shelves, and Josie checked to see when they were last checked out. This is one of my favorite things we have done so far in Techsperts this year. I got to see so many books I have never seen before, and I got to reunite a few series. There were lots of books that have never been checked out before. This is helpful because we need to keep the shelves clear of old, outdated books and make room for new ones.
