Learning Commons

Learning Commons- A positive learning environment that is not only inspiring but also an effective sanctuary, where kids feel they belong.  It’s a place where middle school-ers can come read a book, finish their homework or even use 21st century technology.
We need the use of it because I think it will make kids learn more effectively. I not only think it will make learning more effective, but also reading.  It will make more kids want to learn. Since our generations of kids are getting more and more attracted to technology, and sometimes I think with it, it can create new learning experiences.
I am a part of the skylight project. Our goal out of the skylight project to put a quote that will make kids think, and pull them to our library/ learning commons. We want kids to admire the beauty of the skylights, we are painting the top near the window will be light blue and the bottom will be dark blue to attract the beautiful sky.

Learning Commons

Learning commons
             By: Noah Birkeness
A learning commons or digital commons as some people refer to it as. Some people think that library’s aren’t modern enough for the 21st century and this generation of students. Because every year you here of a new device iPad, iPhone. That changes how schools work because ELA class in are school has iPads / iPad minis. And if you use the technology to all your advantages this can create new learning experiences.
A very good advantage to a learning commons, more so my area in the learning commons, multimedia purpose is that you can work with a group making it more social and open to all learning. But a multimedia purpose can also be very independent for testing or just work alone. Really depending on the syllabus and the material you’re working on.
Having a room where students can socialize and work on projects together or individual projects. Plus we aren’t eliminating anything by doing this because the printed books will still be shelved for use of reading.
These are a few reasons on why we need a learning commons.

LEARNING COMMONS

A learning commons is a safe learning environment for kids these days to be able to be free and comfortable with their education without being judged and feeling able to learn and appreciate the anatomy of their education. It should be a place where it is active and comfortable space where students can discover, create, and collaborate with peers. I am honored to join everyone to be creating and designing the new learning commons and having the 7th and 6th graders cherish the ability to have an education that will be appreciated in the future.
