Final Techspert Blog by Gannon

It’s Gannon, and I have had a blast this year! Being a Techspert has been a major honor and has not disappointed for even a second. The Techspert has many abilities, and many responsibilities. We have worked on countless projects this year, including book fairs, blogs, and little chores around the Learning Commons! We strive to assist Mrs.Travis in cleaning up, organizing, helping other students who come to the Learning Commons. With not much Ipad knowledge, we still help anyone with a problem. 8th Grade Techsperts is definitely a driving factor for why this year was #ESMSBESTYEAREVER.

Book Fairs were my personal favorite thing to do in my 2 years as a Techspert. All the memories, Mrs. Travis was incredible at coming up with interesting and trendy book fair ideas! My favorite book fair was in the 7th grade, Book Bytes! Us techspert designed our own video game using Bloxels, although we struggled at first, we had plenty of time given to us and tons of help from other techsperts and teachers to create an awesome game along with the other Techspert hours! Each and every book fair brings us all closer together and inspires us more and more every time.

Being a Techspert is a huge honor and a huge responsibility. Although it seems overwhelming at first, the help and patience you get from not only Mrs. Travis but the other Techsperts and teachers like Mr. Travis makes it much easier to control at first. When you get your grip on being a Techspert, you will no longer regret being a leader student. Defining Techspert is difficult to do as they are many things, but leadership is what first comes to my mind when putting thought into being a Techspert. The number one tip I have to pass down to Techsperts to come is, be patient and never be shy when asking for help ya first. It has been a blast, I will definitely miss it in 9th grade, and it is my biggest reason why this year was #ESMSBESTYEAREVER!

Year coming to an end..... Kathy Travis

It is hard to believe that we have around17 days left of school.  Our projects are coming along nicely and the Techpserts are hard at working planning for next year.  The eighth graders have almost completed the wall mural for the Innovations Lab.  The seventh graders are in the process of decoupage pictures on the wood to display in the LC.  Sixth graders are hard at work on the book fair which is coming up soon.

The Book Bytes Book Fair has ended,  Students have stocked up on books for summer reading!  Our next book fair will be in September and will last for two weeks.  We are excited about what that will look like as we are starting to plan now.

The Learning Commons has been a hopping place over the last few weeks.  We have had the Zoo with animals, and we have had kids building land rovers and racing them and much more.  Every day we have math students who are working independently in here.  We have students checking out materials on a daily basis....  I love the activity and the desire of the students to want to be in here!

This year has been a challenge with the high number of iPads in need of repair.  Also on a daily basis, students are in here with problems or questions on how to make the iPad work.  Our iPad collection will begin on May 17.  The Tech Department will be in charge of collecting the iPads.  It is always a stressful time and hopefully it will go smoothly.  Please plan to have your child's iPad, brick and cord at school on May 17.  Please contact me if you have any questions and I will do my best to get you answers.

Thanks for following us this year and hope to see you back next year!
