Bulletin Board by Regan

The 7th hour techsperts are very close to finishing our bulletin board. The bulletin board had
to be reading related and motivativational. We are doing a J.K. Rowling quote, the quote is “I
do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” We have fireworks
shooting out of an open book with different characters too.  Our characters are Harry Potter,
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and the Mocking Jay from The Hunger Games. Thank you for
reading about our bulletin board.

Book Recommendation by Lundyn

Took recommend
By: Lundyn
I recommend the book Took by Mary downing haw it’s about how Daniel and her sister
move into a new house and Daniel not to sure about is it seams unusual and spooky. Then
Erica Daniels sister went missing and nights before left her doll in the woods and so Daniel
thinks that’s why she goes missing and ghost Auntie is keeping her as her house serpent. And
when Erica goes to anties house a girl Erica’s age that has been missing for 50 years comes
out of the woods. I also recommend this book because she is a great writer her words are not all
over the place it makes sense all the way through the book and you’ll really like it if you like
mysteries because each chapter leaves you at a cliff hanger and it’s scary so you’ll like it for that
if you like scary too it’s not all about deaths or stuff like that scary it’s more like a ghost scary.

Passing Periods by Lundyn

I think that we have to short of passing periods and
we need a longer one. We should get a longer passing
period because sometimes we get out of class late so
it's extra short. Another reason is that we don't have time
to go to the bathroom. We have to go through a jammed
packed hallway and sometimes we can get through quick
enough. If we have to put in our combo to get something,
that takes time and sometimes doesn't open then we can’t
get our stuff that we need for the next class so we don't
have time for anything else like the bathroom. This is why
I think we need more that just than 3 minutes for a passing
period maybe even a minute may help.

October 2 InService Day by Addi

On october second there will be an In-service day where the students don’t
have school but teachers still have work. As a TK/PK ( Teacher kid or Principal kid )
I have a disadvantage, because I sometimes have to come to school anyways.
This year though my little sister started kindergarten so I'll probably get to stay
home and take care of her. Parent teacher conferences are coming up I also
hate those because my teachers talking to my mom about me in front of me, is
nerve wracking.

Learning Commons by Jocelyn

This year there is new stuff getting  added to the learning commons, and
everything that is being added to it is really cool. Some stuff we have been
adding so far is tiger curtains and new lights, paintings on the wall.
The Techsperts are working on bulletin boards to decorate the learning
commons. The art student teacher is making a painting to decorate the learning
commons some more to. Mrs. Travis is also hanging up some more quotes and
pictures on the walls to. This year we are not adding any more furniture because
the learning commons are already has lots of comfy chairs and bean bags. People
should come to the learning commons more often this year to see all the new stuff
thats coming into the LC.

Book Recommendations
Series Of Unfortunate Events, Lemony Snicket. I recommend this book because it’s so eventful
throughout the whole story, and it cuts right to the chase. I recommend this book to anyone who
likes to read long series and stories that don’t end on the best note.

Some book recommendations I have are a wrinkle in time because this book is very fun to
read and it has a good message. the message is all about the battle between good and
evil every character in the book is identified as good or evil and many of the books
massages are found in the life lessons and Meg must learn during the way. Another
book I have is invisible emmy because this book has a great lesson and a good book
to read.

Book recommendation
A book that I would like to recommend to everyone is the book called Since You’ve Been
Gone. This book is by Morgan Matson. If you want to read this book, you can find the book
in the realistic fiction book shelf, located at the back left of the Learning Commons
.
You should read this book if you like books that are not real but it feels real and brings you
into the book. This book is about a teenager named Emily who hasn’t seen her best friend
Sloane in a while and couldn’t figure out where she went. Everyone living with Sloane
disappeared from her house only leaving a note for Emily. On the note was a list of things
that she had to do. Big things like skinny dipping or hug a Jamie, crazy stuff like that. On her
journey she met a boy named Frank Porter that she fell in love with and helped her through
the journey and helped to find Sloane. So if you love romantic mystery, I would like to
recommend this book.

Book Fairs by Braylissa

This year we will have two book fairs. The first book fair is going to be sometime in December.
The theme of this book fair is going to be “the winner is…” the book fair will be held in the
learning commons. We will have all types of different books at the bookfair and gadgets just
like last year. If you are new to the district or is a sixth grader, the book fair will be up for two
weeks, on a certain day, your ELA teacher will send the class to the learning commons to
buy books, if you don’t have your ,obey that day you can still do it any other day.
The second book fair will be held in April, this book fair will be a “buy one get one free” book fair.
This book fair will be the same as the one in December but a different theme. A but one get
one free book fair is just as it sounds. You buy one book and get the other one free. Try to
remember to bring your money.

Bulletin Board by Braylissa

Last week we have been working on the big board in the back of the learning commons.
If you have been in the learning commons lately and the left side with all the chairs you would
notice a blue board with #NewTrendingBooks and #StaffPicks. If you are wondering what that
is on the bottom corner there will be a little slip with paper in it. The paper is a bookmark, and
if you like your book then you could write a recommendation about it on the bookmark. On the
bookmark it will ask the title, author, why you recommend it, favorite part, and recommended by.
If you write 3 of those slips in 1 quarter then you will get a prize.
The #StaffPicks are for the teachers. There will be book covers that they will write on. They
will have the same thing on the book cover. If you are interested in winning a prize, you should
really go and take one. All you have to do is read 3 books book or have 3 books that yup already
read and recommend them.

Book Recommendation by Izzy

~ 09-27-19 ~ The book I chose to recommend is Gone. This book has a series, and it is located
in the Paranormal section. The book Gone is about a small city which experiences a weird,
unexplainable phenomenon. A barrier is formed around the city, and all the people that are over
the age of eighteen disappear. The kids are forced to survive with no service, low food, and no way
of communicating with the outside. Some of the kids even have powers. They have to fight off
monsters to survive. This is a great book to read when you want to read a mysterious series of
books. The Gone series is just explaining how they survive, and I rate it five out of five stars.

This year by Brody

I really like excel this year, which is kinda surprising. Usually in the last few
years of school it was my least favorite. Mainly the fact that it was mostly busy work and
50 minutes long. This year though, it’s not nearly as bad. First thing is that it’s only 30 minutes long.
This is cause of the addition of home room. Which is just a way to wake yourself up before your
electives. It also is 20 minutes long which takes the 50 minute period excel used to be, now
being only 30 min.

Secondly, we don’t do as much busy work. Sure, there are many days in
which their is some work Assignments. But they also let us work on unfinished work. Letting
me(and I’m sure many another) get a lot more work done. Causing me(and just like before many
others) to get a better grade in most of my classes

9/27/19- The book that I am recommending is “Deep Dark Dangerous”.
My 4th grade teacher read our class the book. It’s about a girl and her
mom going to a lake house her mom went to as a child. The girl thought
the place was a little off. She was watching her niece all summer. It rains
there all the time. The girls niece met another girl her age. The girl was
really mean. There is a big surprise about the little girl her niece makes
friends with. I guess you will just have to read to find out.

9/27/19- The book I’m recommending is Abduction
by Peg Kehret. When I was in fourth grade my teacher
read this book to us. I still remember it because I love
this book. Abduction gives mystery and suspense. Would
you do anything to save your little brother? That’s what
the main character Bonnie does. She realizes her brother
is not lost, but missing. Read to find out what happens.

Techsperts by Tanya

Mrs. Travis asked us to make a poster to promote
positive reading. I thought of different ideas of what
the poster should look like. We ended up doing a quote
from Harry Truman. The quote was,”not all readers are
leaders but all leaders are readers.'' We painted it and
now we are almost done. All we have to do now is to hang
it up.

Some of our other techsperts are doing interviews of
teachers. We are going to ask them questions like, where
did you go to school? and how long have you been teaching?
We are doing this for Facebook. We have to write about
a different teacher each week. It’s supposed to tell
people who are teachers are and what they do. So the
community can know more about ESMS teachers. That’s
just some of the things we are working on.

We are a few months into school! I hope everyone dressed up for spirit week and had fun.
In the learning commons Ms. Travis hung up some curtains and lights so make sure you come
by and check them out. Make sure you fill out a book recommendation form on the back wall of the
library.

In 8th grade we are reading and writing and we are going to be writing a personal narrative in
ELA. In social studies we are learning about Christopher Columbus and how native people survived
in America. In math we are learning about triangles angles and finding unknown angles of shapes.
Finally in science We are learning about the moon phases and what causes them. That’s what we
are learning about in 8th grade.

Book Recommendation #1
Caroline
The book I’m recommending today is The Guardians of Ga’Hoole series. This series
follows a young Barn Owl, or Tyto Alba throughout his adventures. The series starts
when Soren is still a nestling & hasn’t grown flight feathers yet. He gets to watch his
younger sister Eglantine hatch. Soren also has a mum, dad, & Kludd, his older brother.
Soren has a perfect life until he falls out of the nest! Soren is snatched up by a terrible
group of owls who go by the name St. Aggie’s. From there he is out in St. Aggie’s Academy
where he meets Gylfie, a young Elf Owl. Together they must survive St. Aggie’s Academy &
escape to the inly place they’ll be safe. The Great Ga’Hoole tree. This is a place of learning,
where St. Aggie’s is a place of subduing. Will they survive? What will happen when they get
there? Start reading The Capture to find out!

Family by Mia

Do you know what a family is? I mean
you probably do but, do you know what
it means, family means a group consisting
of parents and children living together in a
household. Like you have two parents and
how ever many kids you want to have. You
could have a mom and a dad or a dad and
a dad or a mom and a mom. You could have
a sister a brother or even both!

Social Studies by Mia

Today in Social Studies we are learning
about Rome. Rome is so cool to learn, you
get to learn about gladiator fights in the
Circus Maximus, chariot racing in the coliseum.
Rome is located on the Italian peninsula and
reaches out into the Mediterranean Sea, also
did you know that the first Romans were called
Latins. Also the Estruscans modifying the
Greek alphabet and then the Romans borrowing
and altering the Etruscan alphabet. The Rome
government is a little different than our
government today like in Rome they have 2
consuls but today we only have one president
and a similarity is we both have senates.

Book Recommendation by Gaige

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series #1); Hardcover; Author - Rick Riordan

Book review

I think people who like mythology should read the book Lightning Thief because it is a very
good book and also it can teach you about mythology and it can teach and Zeus,Poseidon,
Hades,and other gods and goddesses.
It is about a person named percy and hey is a demigod and that means half god half
human and he has a friend that is part goat and part human,There are even more people
but there is also a girl named annabeth and half goat person his name is Grover and they are
the three main characters. I don't want to give out too much information but there are also a
lot of monsters in the book series too and they are kinda weird monsters like some have three
heads some are giants and there are many many more. And I think it is a very entertaining
book
