Gracie Creason....last day before break

We are so excited tomorrow because it is the last day of school for the semester. And we also get to have assemblies and watch our teachers get slimed. They're getting slimed because we reached our All for Books goal, we actually went above our goal by almost a hundred dollars. Which is really exciting.

We also get to have a half day, and stay with our ELT. We are so ready for our winter break. And then we get to come back to school and get ready for our next Book Fair. Peace Love and Books. Yay, we can't wait for break.

Book Fair Goals! by Gracie Creason

As a bookfair crew we are so happy. We reached our goal for all for books, and we actually went over our goal almost by a $100. Which is so exciting. We also reached our goal for total sales which is also great. We have achieved a lot this year, but we still have next year which is just as important. But we aren't just the winners, the kids in all for books are. They get blessed with a Christmas.

So because we achieved our goal, they have a Christmas and we have a higher chance of winning. We have had a great 2015 bookfair. Now all we have to do is make our spring bookfair the bomb dot ok.

Becoming a Techspert by Jordan Foulk

Have you ever had a goal that you achieved? Well that is exactly what happened, I set my mind to it and got it done! I jumped with glee knowing that I just got my classes changed to be a techspert next semester! I am so happy being able to help in the learning commons when we come back to school after winter break! Getting ready for book fair next semester, and just being here in general!

Book Fair by Madyson Harris

It's the fifth day of the book fair, and we still have 1 more day left! If you haven't got any books

you better bring your money tomorrow if you plan on getting some. With only one more day of

the book fair, that also means there's only one day left to raise money for all for books. We have

less than one hundred dollars to raise in one day. We know we can do it if every student bring

25 cents. Bring your money, and come buy some books from the BookFair!

Book Fair by Olivia Richey

There is less than 24 hours left of the book fair! You guys need to start buying books and donating money to all for books! PLEASE! We really need to get first place this year because we have put so much work and effort into this book fair.

At the book fair there are all sorts of things you can do to donate to all for books. You can take a 23-19 shower. That is where you pay 2 dollars to get monster bucks poured on you. Then you can also just donate money to all for books. So far we are at a point where if every person in the school brings a quarter then we will reach our goal.

Book Fair by Sierra Hightower

There is less than 24 hours left in the book fair and we still need to reach our goals. We need your help to get first place. All you have to do is donate money to all for books we have 382 dollars so far and our goal is 450. Also we have a total sales goal of 4,000 and we are at 1700. If everybody could bring a quarter or more we can reach the goal that was set and also if we reach that goal we get to slime the teachers.

Book Fair Blog by Jordan Foulk

So as the first semester comes to the final week, and the book fair comes to the final day! The book fair is coming to an end tomorrow and we still have a goal to reach of $450 for "All 4 books"! We have a wide variety of books from thrillers, romance, mystery, cookbooks, picture books, and even more! Don't forget tomorrow will be the last day for Boo's alley also! So make you visit today!!!

Only two days left...book fair by Maddie McFee

Only two more days for beautiful monstrosity so come down and donate so we can get to our goal 450 for all for books and to slime some Teachers.

Book Fair by Zane Lohman

There are two days left of the bookfair and we still need $100 for all for books so we can slime

our teachers. Right now 10 teachers have volunteered to be slimed if we raise $450 for all for

books, Mr. Faubion, Mr. Bierman, Mr. Vasquez, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Staponski, Mrs. Lauritzen, Mrs.

Schleiden, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Schindler, and Mr. Dodge.

Book fair by Gracie Creason

The bookfair is almost over. It closes tomorrow at 3, but we still haven't reached our goal for all for books. We have a goal of $450 and were more than halfway there. But to reach our goal you have to donate money. All for books is an organization where we donate money, and then we give the needy kids of excelsior a Christmas. This does help us win our bookfair, and help us look good. But truthfully we aren't the real winners the kids are.

We are so close to an end and we need that money, we also need people to buy books a to reach that goal too. The bookfair is so important to our school we have gotten second and fist place for the past three years!!! That's how long we've done competitive bookfair!!! Isn't that cool. But if we want to win this year we have to reach all of our goals. So go to your ESMS bookfair and donate that money.

Book Fair is ending tomorrow by Megan Rice

The book fair is coming to an end and we haven't reached our goal yet! The deal was if we had

reached our goal of $450 a teacher would be slimed. Well now we have 10 teachers

volunteering to get slimed. We must get around $100 more dollars to each our goal. I know we

can raise the money. The students who bring in the most money are given the chance to slim

the teacher of there choice. So what are you waiting for? Make your way down to the bookfair

and donate to All 4 books. So before we leave for Winter break we can slim some teachers at

the assembly!

Techsperts/Book Fair by Jordan Foulk

Have you wondered what it would be like to spend some of your day helping in the learning commons? Well I have had first hand experience shelving books, running things to other places, and just simply hanging out. It all started this year when we had a assembly, and I didn't want to attend it at all! I am the kind of person that always need something todo, and I love to help people with things so I decided to ask the librarian Mrs. Travis if she needed help with putting away book. She did need help the entire cart was filled with books, she taught me how to shelve them but the authors last name, and by the Dewey Decimal system.
I helped put away books during the assembly which was so much fun! Seeing all the books that looked interesting and made me want to read them. As time goes on I keep going back after doing my work in class with free time. It was November and book fair was coming up quickly, and we had a lot of things to do decorating, designing, and putting it all together. The title was "A Beautiful Monstrosity, There's a story behind every door." and the theme was Monster Inc. It was like magic we have "Boo's Alley", a wide variety of books at the book fair and we also have a family night for parents to come and find books. Last but not least have a donation program called "All 4 Books", it is where the money goes toward giving books to the children around the metro.

Bought my book by Olivia Richey

I just bought a book from the book fair. I really love the book fair. There are so many fun things to do with the book fair. You can buy books, posters, and other things. But also you can look through boos alley.  But you can also donate money to all for books to help the underprivileged kids.

First Day of the Book Fair by Morgan Schindler

The first day of the book fair was a success! We sold many books and raised money for all for books! Bring money to your 5th hour class to help us meet our goal for the book fair. The class that raises the most money will get to slime 4 teachers! Stop by the learning commons anytime before or after school or come with your class! Abominable Snowman by Ally Hatch

The abominable snowman is told to be found in the mountains of Asia. It is also dwell below the Himalayan snow line. Despite many of expeditions into the remote religions of Russia, China, and Nepal the existence of the yeti still remains unproven. The Yeti is said to be muscular, covered with dark grayish or reddish-brown hair, and weigh between 200 and 400 pounds. It is relatively short compared to North America's Bigfoot, averaging about 6 feet in height. Though this is the most common form, reported Yetis have come in a variety of shapes. Most of the evidence for the Yeti comes from sightings and reports. Like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster, there is a distinct lack of hard proof for the Yeti's existence, though a few pieces of evidence have emerged over the years. The name ‘Abominable Snowman’ was coined in 1921 by journalist Henry Newman who mis-translated the Tibetan label Metoh-Kangmi, “dirty men in the snow”.The search to find the Yeti can be traced back to the time of Alexander the Great, who in 326 BC set out to conquer the Indus Valley. Having heard stories of the Yeti he demanded to see one for himself, but local people told him they were unable to present one because the creatures could not survive at that low an altitude.

Book Fair by Ms. Travis

It is here!  ESMS is hosting A Beautiful Monstrosity:  There's A Story Behind Every Door book fair.  It began Thursday, December 3 and will run until Friday, December 11.  Our students will host a Monster Bash Family Event on  Tuesday, December 8 from 4 until 6:30 p.m.  There will food, fun and prizes.  There will be a room of activities you can play for a 2 dollar donation to All for Books.  There will be a raffle and scavenger hunt  to participate in as well.  You can take a "shower" of monster bucks in our 23-19 for a donation to All for Books.  If we raise $450 dollars in our All for Books campaign, several teachers will get slimed!  We are excited and hope to see you at ESMS Learning Commons!

Book Fair Starts by Payton Conyers

The start of the book fair is today. Everyone is so excited for it. We have so many great things at the book fair this year. We have so many fun days to come with the book fair it is going to be good this year. Maybe we will even win first place.

Bigfoot by Rebekah Harness

What is bigfoot, or Sasquatch? For hundreds of years, people have reported seeing hairy, man-like creatures that walk on two legs and live in the forests and mountainous areas of North America and around the world. The term "bigfoot" was coined in 1958, when bulldozer operator Jerry Crew found and cast large tracks at Bluff Creek, California, near the site where Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin later filmed the Patterson-Gimlin film in 1967. The story, and the word "bigfoot" hit the Associate Press and it has been a common word for all things big, hairy and manlike ever since.

The belief that bigfoot is simply an "ape" similar to a two-legged Gorilla has been
status quo in the bigfoot research community for decades. One popular theory is that Bigfoot may be Gigantopithecus Blacki, a large primate whose teeth and jawbones have been discovered in parts of China. The mass media often ridicules people eyewitnesses who claim to have seen Sasquatch. Some have looked to early human ancestors as potential candidates to explain what Bigfoot is. Many early Native American tribes across the US and Canada have stories about Bigfoot.

Do you believe in Bigfoot ?

Aliens by Kari Crouse

Aliens are normally described as a small grey mutation with an overly large head and large black eyes.
they seem to come from another universe according to the many people that believe in them.

Many people believe that aliens are really because they think that we can't be the only ones in all of outer space. They also believe in it because they want to know what they see in the sky (U.F.O). U.F.O stands for unidentified flying object. They want to think that it's a different species from a different planet because everyone feels the need to know for sure what things are and where there from. So there for they believe in aliens because they want to have reasoning behind things that we don't know the answer to.

Loch Ness by Kari Crouse

The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid - a creature whose existence has been suggested but is not recognized by scientific consensus. Nessie, is reputedly a large unknown animal that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is similar to other supposed lake monsters in Scotland and elsewhere, though its description varies from one account to the next. Popular interest and belief in the animal's existence has varied since it was first brought to the world's attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with minimal and much-disputed photographic material and sonar readings.

People believe in Nessie because they want an explanation for what they see. When really it could be just a branch or seaweed. People have taken this myth so far that people have made life size models of Nessie.

BOOK FAIR TODAY! by Madeline Evert

Now we have all of the books and almost everything to go TODAY is the opening day of the 2015-2016 MONSTER FACTORY. Everyone crew worker will be wearing their monster book fair blue and green T-shirts and everyone will be happy and be smiling and ready to get this monster factory started!

Creating Rozz...by Madi Cole

Creating Rozz was a difficult task because we couldn't figure out what to make her out of.

First we tried white paper and we were gonna paint it, but we couldn't make the right color out

paint so we took it all down. Then we tried plain brown paper, but that wasn't Rozz’s color either,

so we took that down. Next we tried the painting idea again, but it was taking way too long. So

for our last attempt we tried spray painting paper, that worked perfectly!

For her cardigan my mom went down to The Good Samaritan Center and bought one for

three dollars. Then we stuffed her body with bubble wrap, and made her face out of paper. It

was a lot of fun.

Book fair time! by Madeline Evert

It's almost book fair time! We have two days until we have the 2015-2016 monster factory book fair. We are doing our final touches and getting ready for this awesome book fair the crew has been working extra hard and ms. Travis has been doing a lot to make this happen. I'm super excited to see this book fair and when all the books are here so we can see the book fair with all the decorations up.

Book Fair by Sierra Hightower

I'm very excited for the book fair. It starts in two days and we have gotten everything done. One of the things I'm very excited about is monster bucks.
Monster bucks is like money but you earn it by reading books. When you finish a book 200 pages or more you earn 10 monster bucks. You can also get them by taking a 23-19 shower or donating to all for books. If you save up your monster bucks you can earn many cool prizes like a free book from the book fair, gift certificates, toys and other cool things.

Book Fair by Olivia Richey

I am so excited about the book fair, but one of the things I'm most excited about are the monster bucks. Monster bucks are little pieces of paper that you can turn in to buy prizes.
You can earn monster bucks by reading a book of at least 200 pages, doing a 23-19 shower, or donating to all-for-books. When you read a book of at least 200 pages you get 10 monster bucks. A 23-19 shower is where you pay two dollars and get 10 monster bucks. I am really looking forward to the book fair. Make sure to look for it December 3-11

Mila 2.0 by Madyson Harris

One of the books I have recently read is Mila 2.0.  I would describe Mila 2.0 as a gripping sci-fi thriller.

At the beginning of the book MIla is the new girl in a small Minneapolis town.  After the death of her father Mila is having a really difficult time hiding her feelings for Hunter when she finds out, she's not human at all.  Mila is an android being hid from the government, and has to go on the run to escape them.  In search for the truth Mila must do everything she can to save her "mom" and reclaim the life she wishes she could have.  I would definitely recommend this book, and the rest of the series!

Book Fair by Rylee Johnson

It's the end of November, and next week the monster book fair starts! With all of this hard work that we put in the book fair, we can't wait to show it off! Come December 3rd to see what we have for you!! 👹

Book Fair is two days away! Cassidy Bradshaw

It is two days from the book fair and we are done hanging up stuff and doing final touches. We are super excited for all the kids to come to our monster factory! Family night we will have all sorts of different snacks and drinks and fun games for you and your family to come hangout. We hope to see you at this years 2015-2016 monster factory?

Book Fair by Olivia Richey

I just got done with mike wazowski. It was very hard, but I managed to do it.
First i drew mike on a piece of cardboard. Then I cut it out along with a piece of paper that I then glued to the card board. Then after that was done I painted him lime green and put the face on. We are truly getting ready for the monsters inc book fair!

Book Fair by Sierra Hightower

The book fair is coming soon and we have been working really hard to get everything done. It has been tough but it looks great. Everything we have done is coming together to make the monster book fair. My main job was to decorate the front doors to the library.
My job was to make the front doors look like the front of the entrance to the  monsters inc factory. It was hard at first because we didn't have any paper the color of the actual factory but we agreed that yellow looked really close. So we covered the doors and wall with the paper and then cut out letters in blue to say ESMS. We made the M bigger and put the eye in it. The last thing we did was put the title of the book fair on the doors "a beautiful monstrosity there's a story behind every door"

Book Fair by Madyson Harris

It's almost time!  This Thursday all of our hard work in the Learning Commons will be shown in our Monsters and Goosebumps Book Fair.
One of the features at our book fair are monster bucks!  Monster bucks are kind of like money to spend on prizes.  One way to earn monster bucks is to read a book and have a techspert quiz you on it.  Another way it to donate money for All for Books.
We are also have a scare competition!  Two techsperts have taken a scary picture of themselves for the competition.  The money fund raised through this will go to All for Books!
The book fair will take place Dec. 3-11.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Book Fair by Gracie Creason

In book fair this year we are having a great creative challenge for our ELT Classes called “The Great Door Rally.”  What you will do in your ELT class, you will decorate your class door. Whether it be a monster door or a regular door your class will decorate it for our Monsters Inc. Bookfair. Another part of this challenge is you will decorate a tiny door that replicas your big class door and then bring them to Ms. Travis to hang on the track in the back of the learning commons.

When you help decorate these doors you are helping us get closer to getting first place. We want to achieve first place each time. And this year we are closer than ever we just need your help to win. We hope you and your Wednesday ELT classes make your doors great. Help us win 1st place.

We have monsters that we are building, and we have monster doors. Like the lochness monster and the abominable snowman, and Bigfoot, and last but not least we have a Royals door.

We are going to hang the doors on the ceiling to make it look like the monsters inc factory.    It is going to be a lot of fun. We also have monster bucks that you can earn to buy stuff.

ESMS UPCOMING BOOK FAIR

ESMS UPCOMING BOOK FAIR

ESMS will be hosting a Fall Book Fair December 3-11.  “A Beautiful Monstrosity:  There’s A Story Behind Every Door” will feature the Monsters, Inc. theme.  The book fair crew would like to invite the community to come participate in our Monster Bash Family Night on December 8, 2015 from 5-7.  The Book Fair Crew is working hard to create an environment of fun for all.

Students are currently participating in reading challenges to earn “Monster Bucks” to spend in the “Monster Market”.  In the market are prizes such as free books, food certificates donated by local business such as BobKorn and Waffle House, and items donated by the LMC.  The items have a Monster Buck amount on them so the students know how many they need to "buy" what they want.

The book fair crew is setting goals for sales, books sold and All for Books money raised.  All for Books donations will go to the Good Samaritan Center of ES to give books to needy children for the holidays.  The crew welcomes donations to help them meet this goal.  Book fair t-shirts are being sold until November 1.  Black and gold para cord bracelets are also being sold.  The profits from both will be donated to the Scholastic All for Books program.  A monster boss contest is being run from now until Thanksgiving break where 8th graders are competing by raising money for the All for Books program.  The "monster" that raises the most money gets to open the doors for our Monster Bash Family night.

The crew looks forward to serving you at our book fair!

Volleyball by Cassidy Bradshaw

So volleyball season is almost over and that makes me sad. I made friends on the volleyball team and I'm really close with them now. I have way more friends than I did last year. There's a game on Thursday and a tournament Saturday. Hopefully the season ends with a bang.

Volleyball by Rylee Johnson

This is the last week for volleyball, and I couldn't be more sad. Our team has worked hard to win all games, and get first place in our first tournament. We definitely earned it! I'm so glad I got to become closer with all the volleyball girls and have such a great experience with them all. Looking forward to freshman year with volleyball!

Volleyball by Madeline Evert

the volleyball season is coming to a end and I'm very sad that it has come to an end. It was an honor to be on the volleyball team for never ever playing in my life. Our last home game is Thursday at home and then we have a tournament this weekend. Our coaches and teammates are always pushing us to make us better and I'm very proud of them for doing that.

Monster Bucks by Sierra Hightower

Monster bucks
For the book fair we came up with monster bucks which is like fake money. You can spend monster bucks at the monster market. I think it will be really cool for kids to be able to spend the monster bucks on prizes.
How do you get monster bucks? You can get monster bucks by reading books more than 200 pages long. Each book gets you 10. The prizes you can buy range from gift cards to free books from the books fair.

New Friends...by Madi Cole

At the beginning of eighth grade I was worried. I only spent time with one person over the

summer, my best friend Maddie. I was afraid that I wouldn't have many friends. A couple days

before school when Maddie and I were putting stuff in our binders, I felt a little excited. Maybe

going back wouldn't be so bad and I'd make new friends.

When I found out all of my classes, not a lot of my friends were in there. But when I started

talking to some of the other kids they were pretty cool! I was especially afraid of eighth hour.

The other two boys I was with I had never really talk too. But now we're almost a quarter

through the school year and I'm really close with those boys! It's cool to make new friends.

Class by Gracie Creason

I'm so glad that I got picked out to be in Ms. Travis' Tech applications class. I have learned so much already and were not even half way through the year. It's great because we get to help others find out more about technology too. We also get to help with the book fair and do library things. This class gives me an extra thought on how technology helps us in modern day society. We get to work with Mackey Makeys and spheros, it is really fun.

Without a doubt tech applications is my favorite class of the day, i get to see my friends work with people, and help our school with technology. It seems like a lot to get done within a hour but it is possible. I'm so excited for the rest of the year to come I can't wait to help more people and help Ms. Travis out with all the needs of the library.

Selection Series by Olivia Richey

I think that you should read the selection series. It is the best series ever. It has violence, romance, and comedy in it. It is awesome! It is about a prince that is ready to be married and it is basically a competition. In the beginning it starts with 35 girls. Read it to find out who wins.

Revived...by Madyson Harris

Do you like to read? If so I have a great book recommendation for

you! Revived By Cat Patrick, is a great book that I recommend for all

when Daisy dies, they have to change the there last name and move

somewhere else, to keep the program a secret. When Daisy has to

move to a new town her life will take a drastic turn.

I recommend this book to you because it is multiple types of genres.

Romance and adventure. I find that the whole book is really exciting

and never gets boring. I have read it twice and I'm still not tired of it.

For my 8th hour I have this really class where I go into the library/learning commons, and help people with their iPad problems or help Mrs. Travis with learning commons stuff. It is a really fun class, there are only three people in it each hour. We do work like book fair ideas and other things like helping people check out books.

We normally try to work hard, but we also have some free time to do things like play with sphero. Sphero is a sphere shaped robot that you can control through your device. It is a really cool class.

Friendly Staff by Zane Lohman

We are a lucky school to have such friendly staff at ESMS I haven't had a teacher in my middle school career that I didn't like, this makes for a shorter seeming school day, who doesn't like that? All of my teachers greet me when I come into the room, and class is always smooth sailing with nice teachers. The office people are nice, the lunch people nice and I just wanted to say thank you for always being there for all of us.

Freedom to Read Week By Cameron Huett

Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to yet another installment of Techspert blogs with Cameron. This week we will be discussing Freedom to Read week. Next week, October 28th- November 2nd, we will be encouraging everyone at ESMS to take advantage of all of the books and e-books at their disposal. ESMS never bans books and believes that your own judgment will always be enough to tell what books you should be reading. While you are at the learning commons, feel free to ask about our monster book fair. It will be titled, A Beautiful Monstrosity: There's a Story Behind Every Door. Thank you all for showing support for the learning commons and the book fair. We look forward to seeing you!

Makerspace presentation by Morgan Schindler

Makerspace presentation
Yesterday(Monday) there was teacher in service (which is why we didn't have school.) 3 techsperts, including myself were asked to give a student presentation on makey makey's, spheros, and green screens. We were asked to tell how these devices could make learning fun. We explored possible lesson plans, activities, and projects to do with the new technology.

The teachers loved the spheros and were excited to bring them into their own classrooms. They got to try them out for themselves and we had a lot of fun!

STANDARD BASED GRADING...by Rebekah Harness

Not a while ago we started the standard based grading. Since we've had this I think it's been great because you get to see what you've been struggling with in each individual subject instead of having the teacher go back and tell you what you need to reassess on so you have a more clearer understanding. But I've also found it quite stressful because if I were to have one bad grade on a test, if my family were to see it they would think of it as my final grade before I would have the chance to explain to them that it was one test and not my final grade.

CLUBS by Rebekah Harness

This year I'm so excited for all of the after school activities coming up. With all of the new teachers here so many clubs are going to change their perspective. I know I'm going to be in three clubs this year ,although I want to do more they end up being on the same day. Which I think is a bummer because they're only putting clubs on Monday or Tuesday . What I'm aware they have three clubs on Monday that I want to be apart of all. With my knowledge I don't think there are any clubs on Thursday. I'm sure other people would love to be in all these clubs but can't because they can only pick one for that day. Some teachers I think are being nice about it and letting us be a part of it even when not there and at other clubs. That's how I'm able to be in two clubs on the same day. But overall I just can't wait for the clubs to start they sound so fun and helps us get involved with ESMS.

Techsperts By Madyson Harris

Are you good with technology? Well then tech applications is the class for you! Tech

applications is a class were a few kids are selected to help with the school I pads, and work in

the library.

One of the many things I do as a techspert is working for the Book Fair! Working on the book

fair is exciting because, I get to think of cool Ideas that will encourage people to read, and I get

to help make the theme come to life.

Another thing I get to do is help fix IPads when they are broken. Helping fix the IPads is

because it is fun, and because if we can help solve the problems it helps Save the teacher's

time.

One of the last things we do as techspert is do things to help the learning commons run

smoothly. This is very important because, the teachers don't have time to do everything so we

get to help do things we couldn't do in other classes.

I hope to see even more people in this class next year!

Book Fair by Olivia Richey

I am super excited for the book fair! We have started a new thing called monster bucks. Monster bucks are an incentive for reading. When you finish a book that is 100 pages or more you get ten monster bucks. You can buy a lot of stuff with your monster bucks. You can even save up for stuff that you want. Once you have a certain amount you can get a free book from the book fair! I'm super excited for this incentive and can't wait!

BOOK FAIR CREW by Sierra Hightower

So far being on the book fair crew is really fun. We have came up with so many ideas for the Monster Book Fair. Some of my jobs are making a door all about the Loch Ness Monster and decorating the entrance of the library to look like the Monsters Inc. factory.
Some of the other things we are doing are making monster bucks and with the monster bucks you can by different prizes at the monster market. We are doing lots of contests like voting for monsters that people believe in real life like Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman, the Loch Ness Monster, and aliens.
The middle school has never gotten lower than second place and we aren't going to this year. It's a high bar but I know we can do it. It's going to be hard but I think it will be really fun being on the book fair crew this year.

Attendance by Zane Lohman

Attendance is a big issue at ESMS. It's an issue we need to fix the school has taken major steps

to hopefully eliminate this problem. These steps include; you have to be here the whole day to

participate in any school sports or events and also to participate in the events you have to be at

school at least 90 percent of the time. On the other side of the argument is that things happen

it's not fair to those who are here everyday but then get sick on a Game Day even if they are

feeling better and want to go to the game they can't because they weren't at school one day.

But Still overall I agree with the new rules because we are 520 out of 560 schools in attendance and

we have been below the state average before 2010.

Book Fair by Olivia Richey

This years book fair is going to be awesome! I am on the book fair crew and I am super excited! We are working really hard on it and it is in December! It is so much fun! We are decorating everything! So far we have decorated the doors and made tons of advertisements! We have never made anything below second place and we are expected to maintain that steak or get first place. It will be a challenge but it will be fun!

Upcoming Book Fair by Madyson Harris

By: Madyson Harris

I am really excited to be on this year's Esms book fair crew! So far

we have discussing the upcoming book fair "Monsters and

Goosebumps." I think it is really cool that the students get to help

design our book fair because, we get to encourage reading in ways

we feel will be effective. I am having a great time working with other

students, and trying to make this our first place winning Book Fair,

don't miss it!

Learning Commons by Avrie Chrisitansen

The learning commons is a great place to sit, relax, and read! If you give your teacher 15 tiger paws you can go to the learning commons and relax and read! But if you don't want to stay for that long you can give your teacher 5 or 10 or anything in between! I hope you'll make your journey to the learning commons soon!

Sports Change by Megan Rice

This school year has given the 7th graders a chance to be in sports. They will make up the B team. Not saying they're not good but and don't deserve to play, I think it's unfair. Every girl in the 8th grade plays the same sports, and there's only limited spots on the team.

As an 8th grader last year if you did not make the A team you could possible get a spot on the B team. This year 8th graders aren't given the option because of the 7th graders. I am super passionate about the sports that I play, but i know several other girls are too. I don't think it's fair to 8th grade girls that want to play and don't make a A team to not be able to play at all. The 7th grades should have to wait until their 8th grade year to play sports.

Art Club by Gracie Creason

We should have an art club because I know a lot of people (including myself,) that would love an art club. Art is a way to express yourself through movements or through a masterpiece, and in my previous art project we did balloon splatter paint inspired by Jackson Pollock. It was really fun, and my whole class I think would agree that it was the most fun art project we had ever done. I think if we had an art club we would have more than an hour to be creative. And the people who are in band could be in art club too.

Another reason why we could have an art club is we could make our school more colorful and show everyone what talents we are capable of too. In some hallways they look a little blank, and we could make them more colorful with our students art work. Plus as I said before band kids can't do art and what if they are great artist but they can't show their artwork off at school? This gives them the perfect time to do so, they can have fun with their friends and show off their art skills. This is why we need art, to dazzle up our school, show our school spirit, and let kids who can't be in art be in art.
