Baseball Blog by Mason

This weekend, I had a baseball tournament. We were in Shawnee for around 10 hours to play 3 games and win the championship. Our first game was at 10am and it was freezing cold until the sun came out. Our final game was scheduled for 2 but didn’t start until around 3ish. The weather was nice until the game was almost over and it started a wild downpour. We were able to finish the game before the storm really hit and we won the championship game 12-10.

The last book fair of the year is over.! It was a huge success.! We had a lot of people that purchased books! (Including me). This is actually the first time in a while that I got a book from the book fair and I am planning on doing it more often. I think I am getting back into reading. But next year there will only be two book fairs.
So better come to the book fairs next year to look at the books. Don’t miss out!

Welcome back to another blog. This is a short week with good Friday so we don’t have school on Friday. The book fair is April 22nd through the 26th and it’s BOGO. Otherwise known as Buy One Get One free. There’s a raffle. 3 for $1 or 50 cents each.
Track members have a meet tonight at the high school so be there to support your tigers. Next week, track has a meet in Lawson next week against 7 teams (don’t quote me on that because I’m not exactly sure)
MAP testing is coming up soon and while everyone dreads it, that only means that it’s getting closer to the end of the year. School gets out on June 5th and there is no exact date on when iPads are being returned. All books are due back to the Learning Commons by May 17th. . There’s not much else that I can think of. See yall next week.

Book Fair by Grace

The book fair is approaching. The book fair will run from April 22nd-April 26th. It will be buy one get one free which means if you buy one book, you can get a second book that is the same price or cheaper for free. Also, The next All For Books Raffle will be held from April 15 until April 26.  Tickets cost fifty cents each or three for a dollar.  You can purchase them in the LC.  The drawing will take place on April 30 with prizes awarded on May 1.

The theme of this book fair is “the book is always better” this would be books that were turned into movies. Some examples would include Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and so many more. Finally, today there will be seniors coming in to speak to the 8th graders about what to expect for high school next year.

Dear blog,
Right now techsperts main project is announcements. We are working with teachers to take new videos and pictures each week. We will put these videos and pictures in the commons where we have four TVs that are for announcements. This will help show what we do in school and what’s special about our school. This will also show other students what there fellow peers are doing. 1st hour techsperts are working on team Kraken and team Hippogriff, including electives.
The book fair is coming up this month, with several good new reads! You should come to our learning commons not only for books, the book fair, but for things such as the meditation station, Vr googles, or just for any extra work time needed. Come and visit, we always have fun going on!

Track blog
Wednesday was the Excelsior Springs Tigers first track meet. We went against the Kearney bulldogs, for our first meet we didn’t do to bad if I'm being honest, obviously we have a LOT of things to work on, but we did good. I’m running the 100m dash, I got 4th place in my heat. I know I can do way better and I plan on doing better with lots of practice. I also run the 4x2…… that didn't happen my team scratched, but it’s okay we will do better. The 4x1 was really fun I really like the 4x1. My team came in second with 59 sec. There was something else I was supposed to do but i didn't make it to the sign up sheet so I couldn't do long jump.we have a track meet the day after. I really want to do better so wish me luck.

We are finally in the last quarter of school! This means we have one more book fair left This book fair will start April 22 and ends April 26. This is going to be a BOGO sale, this means when you buy one book you get the second one free! The theme of this book fair will be new books turned into new movies. We encourage you to come to this book fair because it’s the last one of the 2018-2019 school year.

We are finally done with NWEA testing for this school year. Now everybody is getting ready for map testing the techsperts have made encouraging signs that we are going to hang around the school to make kids get excited about testing and make them believe that they can do it and to try their hardest.

In 7th grade we are learning about a lot of new things. In Social Studies we are making presentations about what it was like to live in West Africa many years ago. In Science we are learning about  energy and potential energy and when kinetic energy is used. In Math we are learning about. Finally in ELA we are learning about figurative language and the sentence types. That is all we are learning about in 7th grade.

Snow Days and Summer School by Addi

From all the snow days our release date is June 5. I really don’t mind the late release, because it mean we might not have summer school. My dad normally works the summer school, and the summer school is normally about a month long so that’s more time in the summer that my family can do stuff with my dad, but it also means that there might not be a Jumpstart which I know helps a lot of kids.

We have just started a new month, April. This school year has gone by so fast, it feels like just the other day I was walking in the first day of sixth grade. But now as the year is ending I realizing next year will be my last at the middle school. I am so excited to be moving on but also very sad. We have been testing the past couple weeks. It has been stressful but all I needed were some deep breaths. Most people are dreading the Map test that are about to happen soon. I on the other hand is exited, I'm ready to prove all my learning this year in my scores. We are going to make the rest of this school year great!

Lately we Techsperts have been preparing for the BOGO book fair that is coming up, on April 22 through April 26, 2019. The theme is the book is always better than the movie. There's also a spring theme too, we've made flowers that we are going to put around the LC. We are also making our, "Leave Your Mark" poster. The "Leave Your Mark" is when the 8th grade Techsperts get to make a "mark" that we are going to hang around the Leaning Commons. My group is doing a hand painting and we are going to feature a positive quote(we are still deciding what the quote should be). Techsperts is really fun and it is for everyone that loves to always be on their toes.

Welcome back to another blog. This week alone is crazy. The track team has their first ever track meet at the high school st four, then one on Thursday in Oak Grove. While all the snow days were great, we’re now going into school until June fifth. We took the last NWEA test of the year today.

Oh but wait, there’s more. MAP testing is coming up soon. But hey, look on the bright side, we’ll be one year closer to getting out of school and into the real world. Ms. Travis just pulled the raffle so congratulations to whoever was pulled. Next week, there’s also two track meets. One at the high school and one in Smithville.

You’ll probably hear from me again next week sometime. Until then, bye.

As we enter 4th quarter new topics are starting for elective class. These classes include Art, Facs, Choir, PLTW, and Techsperts. The Techsperts class is getting ready for the book fair coming up on April 22nd-April 26th. In art they are working on their animals from before spring break and their silhouettes. Facs is learning how to thread a sewing machine to help them with their sewing techniques. PLTW is starting to work with tools and mechanisms. Choir is preparing for their concert and their performance at Worlds Of Fun.

The book fair will run from April 22nd-April 26th. It will be buy one get one free, so if you find two books you like and one of them is the same price or lower you get it for free! I’m so excited for this bookfair because people can get more books for the same price. So make sure you stop by the bookfair and check out what’s there.
