Cellphone Use

Cellphone use
Isabelle Sears

I personally think that we should be able to use our cellphones either when we are at lunch or when we have passing time. We should also be allowed to listen to music in class if we are doing independent work or we are having a test. It would help a lot more eighth graders out since we do not get IPads till next year as freshman. We also should be able to use our cellphones when we take notes in class. It would be more fair since the high school gets to use there’s depending on the class.
I believe that if some people abuse the rule then they should have that privilege taken away from them. Not everyone should have to suffer with not using their phone since one person ruined it. Now if there is any bullying going on while we are online at school then whoever joined in with it should have a pretty big punishment like ISS or OSS.

Phones

I think incorporating cellphones in to the normal school day would be a benefit student. One way would benefit students is they would be able to look up examples to help them or other students.  Dering free time student could play games or listen to music instead of disrupting the class. Teachers could all so post things on Edmodo and student could look at it in the middle of class.
There are all ways going to be students that don’t fallow the rules and text but kids do it any way. So if we allow phones less people we get in trouble and less stress for the office people and the teachers.

TECHNOLOGY

The idea of giving each student their own device is good, but I think that there are some flaws in the way that we are doing it at our school. For example, I believe that if the school is going to pay for an iPad they may as well get all of the students a laptop. A laptop is much more school compatible because it has Microsoft Office. Also, a laptop has USB ports so students can print off their work and put their documents on a flash drive.
Most of the seventh and eighth grade students would agree that is slightly unfair for sixth grade students to be the only ones to get the benefits of having their own devices for school. Most of the older students who do work on the computers in school would benefit more from the devices than the sixth grade students who primarily use them only to complete assignments online. For example, my design and modeling class allows us to use the same website we use in class to turn in assignments and finish them at home. I think that the school should have waited until they could give all middle and high school students devices.

WEB

WEB by: Ashlynne Dempsey
This year I participated in the web program. I wanted to do WEB because I wanted to help the 6th graders out. I remember how scary it was to come to middle school. I feel like my WEB group has learned a lot from the games and discussions we have done. So far this year I have not had any problems with my kids or any other kids coming to our group.
I have had a great experience helping with WEB. I also enjoyed that some of my friends were in my group with me. The kids I had in my group were all fun and never complained about what we were doing. I hope that next year the people that do WEB have just as much fun as I did. The 6th graders will have a fun time and hopefully enjoy it next year.

Phones in School

Phones in School

Having phones in school is a big controversial topic. A lot of teachers think having phones in school is a huge distraction, as many students disagree. Having phones in school would be very helpful. Students could use their calculators, download apps, and do research on their own phones. Although, students could get more away with texting in class. It would take a lot of weight off of the district.
With the 6th graders getting iPads it’s a huge deal. There are still a lot of problems though. A lot of the kids are having problems with their iPads such as the cases, or the charging. And the district is still trying to move along with everything and make sure the sophomores and everyone below that have iPads. It’s a big deal.

Cell Phones

Should cellphones be allowed in school? Although many people believe that it’s a bad idea, it could be very beneficial to students’ education. They could be used in several ways that could help further educate students. They could also help by letting students keep in touch with their parents. Rather than having to use an office phone to contact your parents, you would easily be able to send a quick text.
Cellphones can also be very beneficial by allowing students to research information quickly. Most kids today use smartphones that allow you to get onto the internet. It would be much faster and easier to just look up something on your phone rather than log onto a computer and wait for it to load. As some people may believe that the usage of cell phones during school could easily distract and take away from students’ education, it could actually benefit to their education and help make them become more successful in school.
