Chiefs Parade by Josie

“A Red Snow Day”
By: Josie Casler
On February 2, 2020 the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl against
the San Francisco 49’s. The following Wednesday February 5 our school
had a “snow day” for the Super Bowl Champions Parade! On that day I
woke up bright and early to go to the Chiefs Parade! My dad and I left the
house at 7:30 and drove to Worlds of Fun to hop on a shuttle that would take
us to the parade. We got to the stop and had to walk a mile to where we would
wait for about 4 hours for the parade to start at 11:30. It was a long 4 hour
wait, but luckily my mom was prepared and packed me and my dad some
granola bars, Doritos, and water. We stood at our spot for about 3 and
a ½ hours in the cold, when the parade started, but it didn’t get to where I
was standing for about 30 minutes. Once the parade started I was a few rows
back and couldn’t see much. At first it was cheerleaders and other workers.
Then KC Wolf rode down the road followed by Andy Reid and Clark Hunt
with his family. Finally, the players started walking and riding down the road
on their double decker buses! I saw Tyrann Mathieu, Harrison Butker, Patrick
Mahomes, and my favorite player Travis Kelce. The bus stopped by where
I was standing and the players had to stop to go to the bathroom and that’s
when my magical moment happened. First, a tall man in front of me let me
get in front of him and his girlfriend, so I was in the front row! Then, Travis
Kelce came out of the bathroom and started giving out high fives, and I was
someone who got one!! Then, the parade ended and I was so happy!! So,
if you’re reading this random man and girlfriend; Thank you for letting me in
front of you!!!
