El Deafo Book Recommendation by Katie

I think that El Deafo by Cece Bell is a good book! I like the fact that it shows the main character
as a bunny making it more cute! The main topic is that Cece goes deaf and needs to adapt to
her new life with her gaining and losing friends. It starts out with her going to the hospital and then
slowly losing her hearing, she then goes to a hearing school to help her. They then move to a
different place and gets a new hearing aid, which the teacher has to wear so then she could hear her.
She soon makes a friend but she turns out to be mean. Then she meets this girl called Ginny but
she makes a big deal of her hearing aid and Cece is mad about it. She soon takes sign language
but doesn’t enjoy it. She meets a girl called Martha and becomes friends with her. She soon has a
crush on a kid called Mike. Cece and Martha are playing tag and cece runs into a tree and hurts her
eye. Martha blames herself and avoids Cece. She finds out that she needs glasses. She tries to
talk to Martha but fails. She starts hating gym class and the gym teacher breaks her hearing stick.
She soon gets her hearing aid back and she can hear better. She tells mike she can hear the teacher
wherever she is and they plan to use it to track the teacher so then they can goof off in class. She
soon starts becoming friends with Martha again and they are again friends! I really enjoy the storyline
and the superhero parts. by Katie
