Learning Commons

Learning commons
             By: Noah Birkeness
A learning commons or digital commons as some people refer to it as. Some people think that library’s aren’t modern enough for the 21st century and this generation of students. Because every year you here of a new device iPad, iPhone. That changes how schools work because ELA class in are school has iPads / iPad minis. And if you use the technology to all your advantages this can create new learning experiences.
A very good advantage to a learning commons, more so my area in the learning commons, multimedia purpose is that you can work with a group making it more social and open to all learning. But a multimedia purpose can also be very independent for testing or just work alone. Really depending on the syllabus and the material you’re working on.
Having a room where students can socialize and work on projects together or individual projects. Plus we aren’t eliminating anything by doing this because the printed books will still be shelved for use of reading.
These are a few reasons on why we need a learning commons.
