Colors by WIlla

Everybody has a favorite color. From bright yellow or orange, to a simple white or gray.
When I was little, my favorite color switched about every other week. One week it was purple,
the other it was blue. Adults on the other hand tend to stick more to one color for a long time.
Like, my mom has loved the color turquoise for as long as I can remember. Many people express
their favorite colors by the clothes they wear, and by the items they use like their backpack, binder,
pencil, etc. My favorite color has been yellow for the most part of 2019. I love the sunflowers that are
a golden yellow. I love the mustardy yellow, and the neon yellows. I have many clothing items that are
yellow, my backpack, binders, and pencils are yellow too. My gym shoes are the prettiest golden
yellow as well. I love the message of happiness and cheerfulness it expresses. I love everything to
do with yellow. I also love the blues of the ocean and the sky, and the purple of the lilac bushes, and
the orange of my softball jersey. I love color. Many people have arguments or debates about opinions,
but I feel as if people's favorite color is a respectable opinion that everybody enjoys. Colors are the
beauty of the world, and I couldn’t imagine a world without it.

Book Recommendation Grounded by WIlla

My book of choice for our book review is Grounded. Grounded is a realistic fiction novel written
by… This story is action packed, full of plot twists, and full of emotion. This book is about a young
girl, daralynn, whose family passed away in a plane crash. Her and her mother were not on the plane,
and survived. Everybody changes, for the worse, nd Daralynn has to live with her mother, who is
now meaner than she was before, and try to live a normal life. Then, Clem’s Crematorium comes
along, and aunt Josie is in love. Will Daralynn figure out Clem’s secret, while trying to live normally?
Find out in Grounded. Two copies are in the realistic fiction section in Excelsior Springs Middle
School’s very own learning commons.

Career Choices by WIlla

Career Choices.

Many little kids want to be doctors, nurses, artists, firefighters, or construction workers,
but not me, I have always wanted to be something more. When I was little I always wanted
wanted to be an author. Before I could write or read, I would draw pictures, and when I would
tell the story I would just make stuff up to match the picture. I was embarrassed by the stories,
and would hide them in the piano bench when friends or family came over. As II grew up, I loved
writing more and more. My hard work paid off, and people started to read and really like my stories.
Then, in fourth grade I got super into ocean animals.I fell in love with marine biology. I wanted to be
a marine biologist so bad. Then, in fifth grade, we went on a cruise to Mexico. We went snorkeling,
and I was scared silly. I was so terrified to get into the ocean, I was on the verge of tears. I couldn’t
believe how I wanted to be a marine biologist so bad, but was scared of the work setting. I gave up
on my goals of being a marine biologist.

Then the idea came to my head when we were doing social studies in class one day.
What if I build rockets for NASA as my career? I did all the research I could on job
openings for NASA, salary, what degrees I needed to have, and how old did I have to
be to start. I could start working for NASA at the age of 16, but was it worth moving to
Texas, and not going to college for. I still have 5 years to make the decision if I want to
graduate high school early or not. Or maybe, NASA will shut down before I make it
there, but it never hurts to dream and make goals.

School SO far by Deagen

School SO far Blog

So far the seventh grade has been actually kind of fun . This year has gone differently than I
first anticipated , for example everyone said that this would be the hardest year and the worst ,
but I actually think its been somewhat easy  since I've had little to no homework this year . Also people
said that you wouldn't get to be independent , but ive felt like this year is the most independent i've
ever gotten to be . So far this year year has gone really good , but what comes next is anyone's guess .

Last week by Brice

Last week was homecoming and the tigers took the win! The tigers played against
the Richmond spartans. The score of the game was 28-14, but back to what were
doing in techsperts,  Audrey, Deagen, Mackenzie, and Dylan Carter had been working
very hard on the poster for our learning commons. Ms. Travis has also been working
hard on looking for new books for our library. So if you love reading new books then our
middle school library is the best place for you!

Meditation Station by Brice

If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just need a break from everything well

the learning commons is just the place for you. We have stress balls, rubix cubes, kinetic
sand, and much more. We also have an area called the meditation station. The meditation
station has a big bean bag where you can come in and lay down with one of the gadgets and
just breathe. You can also come in pick a book to lay down in the meditation station and read
a book. The gizmos and gadgets are always open to anyone along with the meditation station.

Techsperts by Alyssa

Being a Techspert is a really good opportunity. If you get the chance
to be a techspert or a web leader I'd definitely recommend it. It will keep
you out of trouble. Being a techspert is actually really fun. We get to plan
the book fairs and different activities.  We also get the freedom to do what
we want (within reason).
