It's hard to explain how amazing my year has been in words. I honestly have
loved eighth grade more than the other two years I have spent in the
ESMS. This year presented itself with endless opportunities and was
nothing like I expected. I expected it to be the same as my sixth and
seventh grade but it was nowhere near, I was blown away. This year went
by so incredibly fast. One of the best parts was being a techspert. Ms.
Travis has a endless supply of dedication for this school and it was
really amazing getting to see her and her hard work every single day.
Not all days were the most fun, like shelving books or cleaning
something out but we got to do things that not very people could have
done in our school. We got to help Ms. Travis bring her extraordinary
book fairs to life.
Part of my favorite things we did this year was for our book fair
my team made a game. An arcade game to be exact. Half of the team worked
on the game while the other half designed the outside cover. “The
adventures of Marshmallow Man!” We made our game with a super cool app
called bloxels, where you designed it on a board and scanned it into the
app causing it to come into the online world, where anyone could see
it. That book fair was the “Get hooked on good books” theme, but we all
enjoyed the candyland themed book fair also. In the candyland book fair
we all worked together, as a team and made a massive game board. We made
all the characters, famous from books and classes seemed to love coming
in and playing the game.
This year was amazing and I would recommend to everyone to try and
get this opportunity. Being a techspert means you are trusted and you
get to contribute to the good of the school and help get some of the
work of Ms, Travis’s shoulders. You get to make miracles. I truly loved
being a techspert, but it’s my turn to head to high school. I hope all
the other ESMS students have had an outstanding year like mine.
