Career Blog By: Jestin Taylor
Whenever
I took the test to see what career might be compatible with I immediately liked
the results. The very first occupation it told me was information technology.
I’ve already had to do an essay on information technology in a different class
so I already understood and liked that career quite a lot. One of the major
things I really liked about it was one of the jobs under it; video game
programmer. I like video games quite a bit and the essay I did in a different
class told me a lot about programming already so this was a happy result for me
but not that big a shock.
However,
the second result shocked me quite a bit because the description for it was
quite the opposite of anything that I would consider enjoyable; human services.
Some of the jobs under this occupation are preschool teacher, career counselor,
and consumer credit counselor. The main thing I dislike about the jobs and
descriptions of average jobs it gave me was interacting with people at all. Not
only do I not like interacting with people but I’m bad at it, so the idea that
anyone or anything would think that this would be a good career choice for me
to pursue is quite a shocker.
