Transformation is Happening! By Abby Summers
Wow, is all I can say about the learning Commons
transformation. Last year when school started it was a drab, grey room filled
with thousands of books and it was called a library. Now when you walk in
through the blue curtained doors you can’t help but smile. I am very impressed
with the changes that have been made such as the painted skylights,
rearrangements of book shelves, and the always moving arrangement of new
loungers.
The
learning commons is still full of books that lots of people enjoy, and I feel
like they are beginning to be enjoyed more by students as the Learning Commons
becomes a “cool” reading hangout. I know for a fact that a year ago people
wouldn’t have paid 15 or 20 tiger paws to come and just read. But with the
cool, new relaxed vibe the walls now make, it is more inviting to everyone. It
is a whole new environment that this school could thrive on. And I don’t know yet if the school itself is
ready to make that exciting change, I just know that I would be right there
helping them with it.
On that
note this transformation was a very good thing for the school. And I think the
title Learning Commons fits very nicely with the schools new switch to
technology. And with all the new iPads
going around who doesn’t want a comfy relaxed place to just sit down and get
some home work done.
