Cell Phones

I believe that we should be able to use cellphones in school because I think they are a good tool for research. They should only be used by students that are responsible.

There are some goods and some bads. Kids could use them to text and distract other kids in class. I just think teachers will have to supervise more closely.

As a student, I think that we should be able to use our phones at school. Even though we get our iPads next  year, and we have some here at school but there isn’t enough for the rest of the students . Teachers give us assignments that sometimes include using iPads, laptops, and other types of technology and there isn’t enough for 300 students. Also a lot of students have a smart phone so they can do a project on and so that teachers don’t have to hold back another project.
If teachers hold a project back, then there is a possibility that they could forget about that lesson and never come back to it, and also it could be late by taking too many days to work on and then not having enough time to work on other things that need to be started on.
And that’s why I think that we should be able to use or phones in class and at school.

The way we have it now, we have two options a day that change, we also have a salad bar. I think that we should change it to where we have two options that stay the same and one option that changes. We should also have a salad bar.
The two options should be something like Pizza and a Cheese Burger. The other option should be a changing. This way we have options that pleases every one.

Responsibilities

The transition from 6th to 8th grade is a quite a difference. The responsibilities are very big and there are more things that you are relied on to do like choosing class for 7th grade. In 8th grade you can choose even more classes and even have more of free classes like this one. this class is  basically a choose your grade class based on how hard you work and how much you get done and really tests how well you can do things by yourself without the help of a teacher always by you.
Also the responsibility of also being able to help the sixth grades I think is very cool but for me I’m not doing it because I’m not good at talking at all and it’s just not my thing but for others it might be and they might love talking and getting to help others out. I think also being able to help others with things they need help with is also cool like iPads and stuff. Responsibilities are going to be very important in the future to be able to do things on time in the real world and it’s good that the school is helping us with that.

I feel cell phones and technology should be allowed for students to use in higher grades. I think the roll out of iPads to 6th grade could be a step to a more technological education. I think the students with technology would find it very useful for many reasons. They could use it to research or find answers to a problem they don’t understand that the teacher’s explanation was not satisfactory. Also, it would mean easier communication in the case of emergencies and teachers could update students a lot faster with services such as “Remind 101” especially because students would see it soon after it is sent.
However, the allowance of technology use in school would certainly not go without issue. Students would definitely use them inappropriately both in content and time. To combat this, teachers could maybe set certain times that technology could be used and could confiscate it when not used in said time. Students would also probably break their devices in school more often and some may even be silly enough to seek compensation for their broken device. So the school would have to use a “bring device at your own risk “policy. Of course, these are only a few of the problems with allowing students this freedom. No matter how many rules are used, many students still aren’t mature enough. Fortunately, the high school allows technology usage so soon enough my class can use our devices.

The app I have selected is Khan Academy. Khan Academy is renowned for its math teaching abilities. Now they have an app. It features all different  It can used be for studying and for teaching.
This is a good app for students and teachers alike. Teachers can use as a teaching aid, for teaching something they don’t fully understand, but it could also be used for when a teacher has a substitute and they don’t have time to make sub plans. Students can use for studying for a test. They could also use it if they don’t understand something in class.
