8th
grade sports
By: Haiden Shroyer
As an 8th grader I start to
wonder why we don’t have many sports to choose from. I do think that we deserve
to have many more sport options other than volleyball, basketball, and
football. Many are not interested in those sports leaving those students
inactive. I do understand that it can be expensive, but you could require each
player to pay for things such as jerseys. I really think that we should have an
8th grade cheerleading, soccer, softball and baseball team. I think
that would prepare student for the high school teams and make our teams a lot
better with more productive and experienced players. I know that this will make
players better because I play competitive softball throughout fall, spring, and
summer, and we start practicing towards the end of winter. So I know the more you
play the more they learn about the sport but for the other players that don’t
get to play that much it could really affect our team’s playing abilities. Things like this could help students behave
better and also have more things to put on their college applications. Colleges
scout for players from around 8th-12th grade. I know this
because there our almost always scouts at my softball tournaments taking notes
on our players abilities, attitude, and whether they listen to their coaches or
not. This could help the people that
can’t afford to pay for college because they could get a scholarship to college
because of their abilities.
