The Sea of Knowledge Book Fair: Excelsior Springs Middle School by
Jestin Taylor
The book
fair this year has been a blast. Between the events leading up to it and the book fair
itself, every step of the way has been a great community effort. There have been many contributors from Excelsior
Springs that have donated their time and resources to help make this one of the
best book fairs yet. Along with
the community, the students have helped to bring this entire book fair together. Overall this book fair has been a great success.
One of the
contributors was the father of a student; he made the giant Ursula statue, from
the little mermaid. Another
donator was a kind person who helped us to reach our goal for the all for books
project. Some of the
other sponsors were local businesses that donated prizes for the games; such as
the pirate wheel of fortune.
For us as
the students; the book fair has been a huge blast as well as a big
responsibility. We’ve been
in charge of helping to set up the decorations for the entire book fair. From the moment that the book fair itself was
announced we’ve been in charge of helping to hype the events that were
happening with it; from the fair being buy-one get-one free to the squid hat
event that was revolving around the teachers.
The book
fair itself was extraordinary. We had a
large turnout, the book fair being difficult to navigate at times in fact. Some members of the community also donated an
abundance of snacks for people to eat during the fair, which was an extremely
nice thing for them to do. We had
raffles that gave some of the guests a prize, so that they might come back
again another year.
